Membership Benefits

DRSG is a 501 c (6) non-profit organization established in 2002 to be the voice of the smart grid industry.  Membership is open to companies that provide demand response and smart grid technologies and services. Members range from large publically traded companies to small venture-backed start-ups. Among the benefits of being a DRSG member are:

  • NEWSLETTER:
All Members receive the DRSG Bi-weekly Newsletter, which reports on business and policy developments across the country and around the globe.  More than just a listing of press releases, it provides insight and leads for those who want to know more.
  • BI-WEEKLY PHONE CONFERENCE:
Members can participate in Bi-Weekly Conference Calls to get real-time updates on policy developments and other pertinent information.
  • POLICY DEVELOPMENT:
Members can contribute to the development of DRSG policy proposals.  The DRSG Policy Committee continually reviews and reacts to policy positions and proposals put forth by policymakers and other stakeholders.
  • DRSG WEBSITE, MATERIALS & PRESS RELEASES:
All Members get an active listing on the well-visited DRSG website as well as a listing on all DRSG materials and press releases.  New Members are also announced by a DRSG press release with company names in the headline.
  • MEDIA & FINANCIAL COMMUNITY:
Various parties, including the financial community and the media, use the DRSG roster of Members learn about the smart grid industry and identify those companies that are a part of it.
  • DRSG GENERAL MEETINGS:
Members can participate in general meetings of the organization. These meetings are normally held in Washington, DC or in conjunction with an industry event or trade show.
  • SPEAKING OPPORTUNITIES:
Members have the opportunity to represent DRSG as a speaker or panelist. DRSG receives numerous requests for speakers from within the industry.
  • DRSG ANNUAL MEMBER MEETING:
All Members can participate in the DRSG Annual Member Meeting, a two-day event in Washington, DC, where Members can network, get briefed by speakers from the Administration and Congress, and provide input into the future of DRSG and DRSG’s policy directions
  • CONGRESSIONAL EXPO:
DRSG Members gather on Capitol Hill in February for the DRSG Congressional Expo, a two-day event exclusively for DRSG Member companies and Congressional Representatives and Staff. At this event, Members showcase their products and services, educate policymakers and participate in the Smart Grid and Demand Response symposium on Capitol Hill.
  • WEBINAR:
This year, Members can also participate in DRSG webinars. These webinars take place quarterly to update Members on major policy and legislative activity.  They are meant to help Members crystallize their thinking on important issues.
  • NATIONAL ACTION PLAN ON DEMAND RESPONSE:
A brand new benefit for DRSG Members is a chance to be involved in the roll-out and implementation of the National Action Plan on Demand Response. FERC prepared this Plan according to Congressional mandate, and DRSG will be part of the “Coalition of Coalitions” that will be implementing it.  This Plan will provide policymakers, utilities, technology companies and other stakeholders with technical assistance, tools, and resources, and it also will facilitate communication and education efforts.
  • GREEN SMART GRID INITIATIVE
Another benefit of DRSG membership is to be involved at no cost with the Green Smart Grid Initiative (GSGI), an effort to demonstrate that the smart grid indeed can be a major positive force in addressing climate change. Last year, as part of GSGI’s educational efforts, DRSG Members attended the Climate Meetings (COP-15) in Copenhagen.  DRSG was the only group at COP-15 selected to brief House Speaker Pelosi and the Congressional Delegation. DRSG is the first UN-approved smart grid delegation to attend the United Nations Climate Change Conference, and it continues to be an active participant of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
